Philanthropy

Delta Zeta is very dedicated to philanthropy and community service. Just last year our sister Lauren and her Delta Zeta Alumni mom Cami traveled to Guatemala to fit over 800 people with hearing aids in two days. It was an amazing experience to actually see that our hard work is going to an amazing organization and real people that need help! Also, the SFE Office office each year takes students in the sorority and fraternity community to Jamaica. They build houses, take a half-semester class, and learn the rich Jamaican culture. Students who partake go on this week's adventure over spring break each year. The two photos below are from past Delta Zeta's going on this amazing adventure and experience of a lifetime.

In the past year, we have donated over 4,000 hours and have raised over $10,000 as a chapter. That is over 25 hours and $75 for each member! We have an even higher goal for the coming years- over 36 service hours and $78 per member. Each year, Beta Kappa holds 2 philanthropic events along with various other community volunteer work. Since 2015, 51 Delta Zeta members have volunteered on international hearing mission trips in 11 countries with the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Delta Zeta recently completed a five-year, $5 million Heart for Hearing and Speech goal. Because of our donation, the Starkey Hearing Foundation gave over 500,000 hearing aid fittings; created a global recipient base; built 70 programs around the globe; created an After Care program; trained and educated governments on hearing, hearing loss, and hearing aids; initiated seven national hearing healthcare plans; and built the Starkey Hearing Institute in Lusaka, Zambia. Our women take part in a variety of community service events such as dance marathon, relay for life, and the blood drive.

The Painted Turtle Camp

The Painted Turtle Camp is an organization that provides quality care for ill children. This amazing facility allows sick children to simply be kids while still receiving the proper care that they would not be provided at a typical camp. Twice a year, new Delta Zeta members make tie blankets for children at the Painted Turtle Camp.  Many Delta Zeta women also choose to volunteer their time during the summer for this wonderful organization- our sisters get to change the lives of so many children and it is a life-changing time for them! This past summer one of our very own members was able to visit and volunteer for a week.

Breakfast at DZ

Our newest philanthropic event is called "Breakfast at DZ" For $5.00, attendees get to enjoy breakfast food and entertainment put on by our members. The money raised at the event gets donated to Starkey Hearing Foundation. Delta Zeta philanthropy Starkey Hearing Foundation's goal is to raise $5,000,000 in five years for the Starkey Hearing Foundation. This program has a more personal aim and is challenging each individual member to start up their own Hike for Hearing page where they can independently raise money for our cause.

DZ Dugout

The Starkey Hearing Foundation is committed to providing quality hearing aids to people all over the world. Beta Kappa proudly supports their mission by hosting the campus-famous event, DZ Dugout which used to be DZ Dogs. DZ Dugout is a baseball theme philanthropy. For only $5 we provide walking tacos bar and drink while our guests enjoy music and endless entertainment. Just last year, we raised over $3,000 for Starkey Hearing Foundation to give people all over the world the opportunity to hear for the first time
